Club Competition Rules
1. All entries for competitions must be derived by photographic means by the member claiming authorship. Members will identify their work with a personal membership number.
2. Each member can enter up to 3 Digital Images (DI), 3 slides, 3 monochrome and/or 3 colour prints for each of the 3 Leg Trophy Competitions. Monochrome is defined as an image from a photographic apparatus which may be tinted or toned and may include one spot colour. Colour prints must contain 3 recognisable colours.
3. Entries for 3 Leg Trophy Competitions should be titled, as judges may take this into consideration when marking. The judge’s decision is final.
4. The Competition Secretary must receive all entries for 3 Leg Trophy Competitions one week before the night of the competition.
5. Members who send entries and cannot attend, must pay the attendance fee.
6. All 3 Leg Trophy Competition Rounds will be marked out of 20.
(a) Any DI, slide or print that qualifies for the top 3 places in any round MAY NOT be entered in any other 3 Leg Trophy Competition.
(b) Any DI, slide or print not in the top 3 places may not be entered in a 3 Leg Competition the same year but may be entered in subsequent years.
7. THE SPORTS AND SOCIAL TROPHY for Slides. The marks for each member’s entries are added together and the highest total for that programme year wins.
8. THE RON DUGGINS TROPHY for Monochrome Prints. The marks from each member’s entries are added together and the highest total for that programme year wins.
9. THE PETER CLARK TROPHY for Colour Prints. The marks from each member’s entries are added together and the highest total for that programme year wins.
10. THE CORRY DUGGINS TROPHY for Best Lady Photographer. The maximum marks from up to 8 entries from DI or prints entered are added together and the highest total for that programme year wins.
11. THE LIZ LAMBETH TROPHY A set of 4 previously unseen images of different photographic disciplines e.g. landscape, portraiture, still life, natural history etc. They should not be titled but each image should have the entrant’s membership number followed by A, B, C, D to differentiate them. Digital files should be sized at a maximum of 1024 x 768 pixels high.
12. ANNUAL PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR All entries winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in colour prints, monochrome prints, DI and slides from each round in the past programme year will be entered. Members who have entered 3 Leg Trophy Competition rounds but not gained a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, may select a print, DI or slide of their choice which has been entered previously and which can be entered into the Competition. All entries must be as originally entered. Entries will be disallowed if altered.
13. ALL ROUND PHOTOGRAPHER The mark awarded to each entrant in the 3 Leg Trophy Competitions will be added together and the highest total for that programme year wins.
14. THE DIMPLE TROPHY Members who have not won any Annual Trophies are eligible for this award. The top 8 marks from those prints, slides and DI entered in the programme year are added together and the highest total wins.
15. DERBYSHIRE LANDSCAPE TROPHY A set of 4, previously unseen prints, to be submitted each no larger than 5” x 7.5”. The untitled prints to be mounted on a piece of card, max size 50 x 40 cm. Membership number to be put on the back but no title. The images are to be taken of Derbyshire Landscapes. The set scoring the highest mark to be declared the winning entry.
16. COLAB TROPHY For prints, both colour and monochrome, no larger than A4 or 8” x 10”. To be straight pictures, without any form of manipulation, alteration or adjustment. They can be from digital cameras, traditional film or transparencies and may be commercially processed or direct from the camera. Prints to be mounted on card no larger than 50 x 40 cm with title and member’s number on the back. Prints will be judged as part of the 3 leg “Print Competition” with the letter “C” after the membership number and the marks will be aggregated for the trophy.
17. TRYPTICH TROPHY COMPETITION A panel of 3, previously unseen prints, to be submitted. The images should be related in some way to illustrate your chosen theme. The prints may be of any size, untitled and separately mounted on card no larger than 50 x 40 cm which can be hinged together. Member’s numbers on the back.
18. TROPHY COMPETITION ROUNDS will comprise Open and/or Set subjects as decided at the previous AGM.
19. AMENDMENTS to these rules must be carried out by a two thirds majority at the AGM.
20. ANY CHANGES to the Competition Rules agreed at an AGM must be investigated by the Committee, prior to implementation, in order to ensure these changes do not have an adverse effect on other rules. Any rule so affected will be reported on with recommendations, by the Committee, to the members before the following AGM.
